How Your Shopping and Donations Make An Impact

When you shop and donate at Overflow Thrift Store, your donations and financial support are directly impacting people in our community and abroad in positive and significant ways. Because of your generosity as a customer and donor, Overflow has been able to support some of our partner ministries in meaningful and exciting ways.

 

Obria Medical Clinics

One of our community partners is Obria Medical Clinics located here in Ames. Obria is dedicated to offering "affordable and comprehensive reproductive care with compassion, dignity and respect for every client, regardless of their circumstances or past experiences." They believe no one should be turned away from receiving necessary medical care because of the cost.

Obria has opened a new office in Ames designed to serve more families with medical care, parenting classes, and life-affirming support. In April, Overflow was pleased to make a $25,000 donation toward their office expansion and their important work in our community.

Mustard Seed Community Farm

Mustard Seed Community Farm is a local treasure just northwest of Ames that is dedicated to sustainable and simple living, love of our neighbor, and creating a community in which everyone can participate in growing and eating delicious, healthy, locally produced food. They are made up of a collective group of farmers and gardeners who volunteer their time to the growing and distributing of fresh produce in Ames and surrounding areas.

This April, Overflow was pleased to make a $3,500 donation to the farm to fund delivery of weekly boxes of fresh produce to local nonprofits like Martha's House of Hope, Wings of Refuge, Anchored Hope, Matthew 25 House, The Bridge Home, and Ames Romero House.
